What the WaveSense website collects, and what the team does with it.
Last updated 25 October 2026
- Reading the site collects nothing about you: no cookies, no analytics, no advertising.
- Signing in with Google, which happens only in the Files section, gives the team your name and email address. They are used only to decide who may download the project files.
Reading the site
The site is a set of files served by GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and its fonts and scripts come from the site itself. GitHub, which hosts it, keeps ordinary server logs such as IP addresses for security, under the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
If you pick a light or dark look, your browser saves the choice so the site remembers it. It stays on your device.
The Files section
The project files are private. There are two ways in, and both go through a small web app the team runs on Google Apps Script, which checks access and serves the files to the page.
With an access code
You type a code the team gave you, or open the link they sent, which carries it; the page takes the code out of the address straight away. Nothing about you is asked for. Your browser keeps a sealed session, which lets the page show the files until the code runs out or you choose End viewing.
With Google sign-in
Google asks whether to share your basic profile with the site, listing what that includes, such as your name, email address and profile picture. The web app checks the sign-in with Google and uses only your name and email address; nothing else from your profile is used or kept. Your browser keeps a sealed session for up to seven days, or until you sign out. Signing in on its own stores nothing about you with the team.
When you ask to download
The team gets an email with your name and email address. The web app also notes that you asked, and when, so the page can show that your request is waiting, and so pressing Ask again within ten minutes does not send another email. That note is removed when access is given, or when you ask for it to be removed.
If access is given
Your email address is added, as a viewer, to the sharing list of the project's Google Drive folder, and you get an email saying so. This is how the page knows you may download. You stay on the list until the team removes you or you ask to be removed.
Who sees it
Only the WaveSense team: the folder's owner, who reads the requests and gives access. Nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or used to build a profile of you. The sign-in, the web app, the emails and the folder run on Google's services, under the Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- Sign out at any time with Sign out in the Files section. That clears the session from your browser.
- To have your access ended, or the note of a request removed, contact the team (below).
- You can also remove the site's access to your Google account in your Google Account settings, under connections to third-party apps and services.
Changes and contact
If anything here changes, this page will say so, with a new date at the top. Questions, or a request to remove your details: Soumyajit Khatua on LinkedIn.
